Wesley Barnhart (Wes; they/he) is a sixth-year Ph.D. candidate in Clinical Psychology at Bowling Green State University (BGSU) and a current Doctoral Psychology Intern (Eating Disorders Track) at The University of North Carolina Center of Excellence for Eating Disorders. Wes holds a B.A. in Psychology (2016) and a B.S. in Neuroscience (2019) from Ohio State University, as well as an M.A. in Clinical Psychology (2021) from BGSU. They also worked as a Clinical Research Assistant at the Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center (Nisonger Center) from 2016 to 2019.

Wes is on track to graduate in August 2025 and is currently seeking post-doctoral or tenure-track positions starting summer/fall 2025.

Research

Elevating Minoritized Backgrounds in Research on Appearance Concerns and Eating Disorders

Wes’s research focuses on the etiology, correlates, and treatment of body dissatisfaction, disordered eating, and eating disorders, particularly in underrepresented and underserved populations. Clinically, they are trained in evidence-based treatments (e.g., ACT, CBT-E and CBT-gsh, DBT, and FBT) and are passionate about preventing and treating eating disorders across the lifespan.
